Why Volunteer and who’s right for the Job?
Our volunteer service is a crucial part of the support we offer Carers. We have a wide variety of roles that can utilise your skills and expertise, whilst enabling DCCS to extend our reach and deliver vital support to more people.
We offer an induction and ongoing training and support. We value all our volunteers however much time they have to spare. We offer various roles based in the office, in the community and based at home.
We are very proud to have the Volunteering Kitemark from Durham Community Action since October 2015. This highlights our commitment and value placed on the service.
The roles are ideal for those looking to upskill, gain experience for C.V.’s or to give back to your local community. Whatever your reason we would love to hear from you.
What role would suit you?
Welfare Benefits Support : Our team help Carers to complete Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Attendance Allowance forms to gain these crucial benefits and maximise their income.
Keeping in Touch Project: This project keeps in contact with Carers by making one off phone calls with some pre-guided questions to ensure they are ok, informed of what we can offer and refer them to a member of our Carer Support Team if required. This is vital to target the most vulnerable Carers and ensure they know where to get the support they need
Parent Carer Champions: Are volunteers who attend Coffee Mornings and events to share our information.
Administration: Carry out a range of day-to-day administration tasks that are vital to the service.
Carer Ambassadors: Help us to distribute our newsletter to community venues quarterly, supporting with attending information events and other occasional tasks.
Fundraising: We rely on fundraising to support our Counselling service, to give emergency grants to Carers in need and a range of other additional ways we improve Carers lives. Help us to run events to raise these vital funds.
Group Support: We have a range of local support groups meeting in community venues and online. Our volunteers run the groups and are the face of the organisation in local communities.
