Carer Friendly Discount Card
The County Durham and Darlington Carers card, developed in partnership with Durham County Council, Darlington Borough Council and NHS County Durham and Darlington recognises and rewards the support Carers provide to their neighbours, friends and family.
Who can apply for the discount card?
The criteria for card eligibility are:
- Living in County Durham or Darlington
- Already registered as a Carer with Durham County Carers Support or Darlington Carers Support
How to use your discount card
Once you have received your discount card, you will be able to use it at the businesses listed in the directory. In order to provide proof of your membership, you will need to show the retailer your card, so remember to always have it with you.

Terms and Conditions
- Cards can only be used by one Carer
- Each Carer in the household will need to register with Durham County Carers Support to receive their own card
- Cards are valid for 3 years
- Businesses will offer a discount as described in the directory, but on occasion some businesses will offer one off/ short term additional offers to Carer Discount Card holders which will be communicated to you via email
- Durham County Carers Support are not endorsing the services or products included in this scheme.
Can your business assist in building a Carer Friendly Community?
Businesses can sign up easily and start to offer discounts to unpaid Carers supporting a family member or friend in County Durham & Darlington. Caring for a relative or friend can be very rewarding but it can also put pressure on household budgets. By giving Carers access to discounts businesses are able to show that they recognise and value the contribution unpaid Carers make.
