Some people take on caring responsibilities on a dally basis, but have not recognised themselves as a carer – seeing themselves primarily as a loved one. Darlington’s Commitment to Carers was developed by the carers’ strategy steering group – which includes the council. Darlington Carers Support and other partners – and aims to make sure that people have the information they need.to recognise themselves as carers so they can across the advice and support they need to carry out their role.
Carers Week, an annual national campaign to raise awareness of caring and highlight the challenges unpaid carers face, runs from 10-16 June.
